Nice! I'd been hearing about this place from my in-laws (who are from Poland) forever. I finally decided to walk over after work one day to see what they had to offer. The space is super small but I couldn't believe the amount of goods they had for sale. The shelves were filled with pasta, pickles, sauerkraut, mustard, jam, dry soup packets, candy and more. I wasn't planning on buying much, but I walked out $40 lighter in the wallet. I scored two of my favorite Polish goods: chocolate covered prunes (they're good!) and Nalewka Babuni peach wine. They also had a dry packet for pickle soup, which I previously tried, unsuccessfully, to make from scratch. Obviously, this place is well known for their sandwiches. I didn't try one but maybe I'll head over on my lunch break one day. They also had a meat case with some yummy looking sausages. Parking over here is a little rough since it's right in the middle of First Hill, but there are quite a few bus lines that pass by. I plan on coming back again with my husband so he can read me some of those labels! (some products have a separate English label but not everything) |
